Ever wondered why experts put a lot of emphasis on improving your lifestyle? Usually, it is observed that most people prefer to go with the flow. They care only about the moment that is in and do whatever they like to do at that moment. I would regard it as a free lifestyle which in some cases might affect you in the long term. How? Let me tell you when you don't follow a routine or a lifestyle, it causes depression and I have experienced it many times before.

I used to have this kind of lifestyle all my life till I realised how it was disturbing my mental health and my productivity, because, in this lifestyle, your sleeping time is not scheduled and you sometimes take a nap between work or going to bed quite late at night, which ultimately makes you feel tired and exhausted the whole day so you can’t focus on your work. You eat whenever and whatever you want which is the most terrible thing to do because your mood, your health, and your productivity strictly depend on what you eat and when you eat.

Following a well-defined lifestyle that suits your routine and personality is much important to keep your mental health and productivity stable. It does not take much to improve your existing lifestyle. I am going to share 5 simple tips you can use to upgrade your well-being.

1. Create a consistent morning routine

This cannot be emphasised much. Having a proper morning routine makes your day. Whatever you have to do in a day should be planned and decided ahead of time as it saves you time and increases your productivity. Wake up in the early morning, give yourself some time to meditate then plan your day in a notebook so that you don’t go about things without knowing what to do.

2. Practice Meditation

Well, your mind needs some relaxation as well. Give at least 30 minutes to it and for this, you do not need a yoga mat or years of experience or a teacher. Don’t be too hard on this, or else you will get bored early. Instead, make it easy for you. On a desk?? No problem, you can do it there too!

3. Prepare your meals

Making your meals every day gives you control over your health and can be taken as a side activity you do to refresh your mind and you end up learning a skill. It is so refreshing to cook for yourself and your family and improve your cooking abilities by trying so many different things. Give it a try and you’ll love it!

4. Listen to a podcast

Podcasts are great entertainment and sometimes they are just about what you want to hear to relax and unwind for some time. Not only this, but it also gives you a new perspective on seeing the world. You get knowledge, and you listen to real stories which at times bring some emotions, but deep inside it refreshes everything including your way of thinking and makes you a better person in many aspects.

5. Give your screen a little break

Ever wondered why back in time people used to be chill every time? (Chill is my favourite word, BTW) because there was no screen. They would keep themselves busy in day-to-day physical activities which are so crucial for your mental health. If you want to improve your lifestyle then give your cell phone and laptops a little break and explore things around you. Go to a friend’s house and have a cool chat in person rather than on the phone. Clean your closet today. Oh, your kitchen cabinets need some settings, and look! Don’t you think if you rearrange your furniture setting it will look like you moved to a new house? Do these activities to freshen up your environment and, obviously, after doing physical activities like these you are going to have a tight sleep today!

That's all! Have you noticed that all these 5 simple steps are no big deal? I promise they will upgrade your existing lifestyle and improve your mental health as well. So what are you waiting for? Be ready to welcome a new you! :-)
